Summer sewing

Hi peeps  :-)
I had some big plans for today  :-)  big INDOOR plans!
But ....   it's sunny!  So the big indoor plans have gone on hold and I'm going to work on some jobs out in the garden instead  :-)  The garage is in desperate need of a new coat of paint, but first it needs to be sanded/wire wooled.  Factor 50 at the ready!

Before I head outside I wanted to pop in here to mention the Summer Sewing Contest that Jennifer over at Ellison Lane Quilts is hosting.

There are some amazing entries in each of the four categories, and some really great prizes too.  Having still not made a quilt (it's on my summer to do list!) I decided to enter the summer travel sewing set I made,  in the bags category. It's perfect for all your supplies for pick-up-and-go summer sewing.

The pattern for the sewing kit comes from the book Zakka Style, and went together so easily. I strayed from the design a little to incorporate a cross stitched piece for the pincushion using co-ordinating threads.
Fabrics - Riley Blake, Tula Pink, Denyse Schmidt

The co-ordinating bag was made from a free pattern offered by Jeni on her blog In Color Order. There's plenty of room inside for the sewing kit, a bottle of juice, suncream, keys, ipod, snickers, peanut m+m's etc.
All ready for a days sewing in the sun or, if you're like me, in the shade. Liberally basted in factor 50! LOL
